The seminar will provide a “scientific forum” for reviewing the state of the art and the new directions in economic, institutional and policy research related to the recent and future CAP reform decisions. It will give an opportunity to present and examine views, procedures and quantitative results from specific analyses of policies, with an emphasis on decoupling and its implications for the EU agriculture. The seminar wants to bring together knowledge about national implementation of CAP reform, to make comparative analysis and to provide useful insights for scholars as well as for policy makers, public officers and farmers’ organisations. Exchanging national experiences in CAP reform implementation should strengthen the analytical capability to:
  •  Explain national choices according to the structure of domestic agriculture, the prominent political context and the activity of national interest groups;
  • Identify the national policy options potentially affecting market competition and equal treatment, as well as the relationships between such concerns and the current CAP objectives;
  • Assess the current and expected effects of the reform with respect to: agricultural land use in EU,  structural adjustments, agricultural markets equilibria;
  • Figure out the rigidity of domestic constraints, the possible member states’ position and strategic alliances in the future CAP reform decisions
The main interest is on economics of the CAP, but integration of analytical insights coming from political scientists and jurists, promoting a multidisciplinary approach to agricultural policies are welcome.
